Find A Sponsoring Broker!

A sponsoring broker is the next step in your journey to selling real estate! This means you being a "Real Estate Salesperson" will need to find someone to hold your license responsible underneath them. In exchange of your "Sponsoring Broker" taking on the liability of you practicing underneath them, you usually return the payment in some way. Whether it be a flat fee, split commission, both, etc. you must find someone willing to take you in!

Keep in mind, you are interviewing the Brokers as much as they are interviewing you!

You are about to enter a hopefully long term relationship with a potential brokerage. You want to make sure you are covering all your bases, ask questions, take notes and make sure you have a full understanding of what the brokerage is about and what you can get out of them as much as what they can get out of you.

Money! You will have to be prepared to spend fees associated with just being in the real estate business!

On top of paying whatever fees are associated with the brokerage of your choosing keep in mind you will need to pay other mandatory fees such as being a part of a Board of Realtors! In San Antonio, Texas we have SABOR, Austin has ABOR, Houston has HAR and so on and so fourth. Being a part of whatever board your sponsoring broker is a part of is MANDATORY. This means non negotiable. Please keep in mind being a part of a board jus increases your credibility as a REALTOR® and to look at it as a value not another fee coming out of your pocket. Also, you will probably want to be a part of the MLS ( Multiple Listing Service). This will give you access to an interface where Real Estate Agents put their listings into. Again, this is an important tool that you will want to make sure you are a part of!
